Why Have a Doula by Your Side?
Welcoming a baby is powerful—and you deserve steady, informed support through every step. That’s what a doula brings: calm presence, expert guidance, and hands-on care when you need it most.
Research and experience both tell us that having a doula can make a big difference. Families supported by doulas often experience:
Shorter, more manageable labors
Fewer medical interventions like cesareans, epidurals, or assisted deliveries
Less reliance on pain medication
A more positive, satisfying birth experience
Stronger starts to breastfeeding
Lower chances of postpartum depression
More confidence in navigating new parenthood
But beyond the stats, it’s about feeling safe, seen, and supported—so you can focus on bringing your baby into the world with as much calm and connection as possible.
WHAT OUR DOULAS DO FOR YOU
Every family is different, and so is the care they need. At Inland Empire Doulas, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all support. When you welcome us into your journey, here’s a glimpse of what you can expect:
-
Before birth day arrives, we’ll meet with you for one to three prenatal visits. These sessions are your space to share your hopes, ask questions, talk through any worries, and create a birth plan that truly reflects what matters to you. It’s all about building trust and making sure you feel informed, supported, and ready.
-
We equip you with practical tools and trusted information—everything from labor positions and breathing techniques to comfort strategies and decision-making tips. We also share insights about your chosen birth place, walk through your questions, and help you feel confident navigating your options every step of the way.
-
The time before birth is full of feelings—excitement, worry, wonder, and everything in between. We’re here for all of it. Whether you need to talk things out, ask big questions, or just be heard, our doulas show up with compassion, calm, and encouragement. No judgment. Just real, steady support when it matters most.
-
From the first contraction to your baby’s arrival, we stay right by your side. Our doulas offer hands-on comfort, breathing guidance, gentle reminders to care for your body, and calm reassurance through every stage. We also support your birth partner and help you understand your options if interventions come up—so you feel supported, never rushed, and always respected.
-
Our doulas are here to help you understand your options—not just the ones you’ve heard of, but the ones you might not even know to ask about. From movement and comfort techniques to potential interventions, we offer guidance rooted in evidence and tailored to your unique values.
And because birth rarely goes exactly as planned, we stay right there with you if things shift—helping you feel steady and confident through every decision.
We also include access to Motherboard’s birth planning tools. It’s more than a checklist—it’s a chance to explore your options in depth and ask the kind of questions that lead to real clarity. Because when you know more, you can choose what’s right for you.
-
We’re here to support both of you—never to take anyone’s place.
Our role is to work alongside your partner, not replace them. We offer gentle guidance and extra hands so they can feel more confident and involved throughout your birth experience. Based on what we see in the moment, we might suggest a position change, a comfort technique, or a reminder to grab a snack or sip of water—always with the goal of helping your partner support you in the best way possible. It’s a team effort, and we’re here to lift everyone up.
-
After your baby arrives, we’re there to support those first tender moments—helping with skin-to-skin bonding, early feeding, and making sure you both feel calm and cared for.
Once you’re home and beginning to settle in, we return for one to three postpartum visits. These visits are a chance to check in on how you and baby are doing, talk through your birth experience, answer questions, and connect you with trusted local resources if needed. It’s continued care that meets you right where you are.
WHY FAMILIES CHOOSE BIRTH DOULA SUPPORT.
Hiring a birth doula offers more than just support—it brings calm, confidence, and a sense that you’re not in this alone. Research shows that having a doula present can lead to fewer interventions, lower cesarean rates, and a more satisfying birth experience overall.
But beyond the stats, many families tell us it’s the steady, judgment-free presence that made the biggest difference. Having someone there just for you—someone who knows how to guide, reassure, and support—can help you feel grounded, capable, and truly seen in one of life’s most powerful moments.
Why Families Choose Inland Empire Doulas for Birth Support:
“I don’t feel truly heard or supported by my OB.”
“I’m planning for an unmedicated birth and want someone who understands that.”
“I’m working toward a VBAC and want extra encouragement and knowledge on my side.”
“My partner is in the military and may not be there when I go into labor.”
“I’m preparing to do this on my own as a single parent.”
“I want a natural birth, but I’m giving birth in a hospital and need someone to help bridge the gap.”
“I need someone who can gently advocate for my birth plan while I focus on labor.”

FAQs
-
A birth doula is there to support you, not manage your medical care. While doctors and midwives focus on the clinical side of birth—like monitoring your baby, checking dilation, or handling complications—your doula is fully dedicated to your comfort, emotions, and experience.
We offer continuous hands-on and emotional support, help you understand your options, and create a calm, confident space as you bring your baby into the world. You’ll have both medical care and personal care—because you deserve both.
-
The earlier, the better! Hiring your doula early in pregnancy gives you plenty of time for prenatal visits where you can build trust, ask questions, talk through your birth preferences, and learn comfort techniques that actually work for you.
Plus, our doulas stay pretty booked—so reaching out early helps make sure you get the support you want with the doula you connect with most.
-
Absolutely. Whether you're giving birth in a hospital, at home, or in a birth center, we’re there to support you. Our doulas are trained to bring calm, reassurance, and comfort wherever you choose to welcome your baby. We meet you where you are—physically and emotionally—to help you feel confident and supported in any setting.
-
Absolutely. We’re here for both of you. Our doulas work alongside your partner—offering tips, encouragement, and hands-on guidance so they feel confident and involved throughout labor. We help take the pressure off so your partner can focus on connecting with you in a meaningful way, without feeling overwhelmed or unsure of what to do. It’s about supporting the whole team.
-
Once your baby is here, our care doesn’t end. We stay with you in those first hours to help with bonding, feeding, and making sure you feel comfortable and supported. Whether it’s guiding you through skin-to-skin time, helping your baby latch, or simply offering a calm voice in the middle of all the newness—we’re right there.
And when it’s time for us to step back, we don’t leave you hanging. We’ll connect you with postpartum resources and trusted providers so you feel supported as you continue to heal, adjust, and find your rhythm at home.
-
Our birth doula packages typically range from $1,200 to $3,200. The final cost depends on things like your location, the doula’s experience, availability, and what’s included in the package.
We know every family is different, so we do our best to offer flexible, customizable options—and in some cases, a sliding scale. If you’re curious about pricing or want to talk through what might be the best fit for you, just send us a message through our contact form. We’re happy to help.
-
Our standard birth doula package includes two prenatal visits, continuous support during active labor and birth, and one postpartum visit. Some doulas on our team may offer additional prenatal or postpartum visits depending on their approach and the package you choose. We’ll walk you through the options so you can find the level of support that feels just right for your family.
-
We usually meet in the comfort of your home, where you can relax and really focus on preparing for birth. Each prenatal visit lasts about 1 to 2 hours and is all about you—your goals, your preferences, and the kind of birth you hope for.
We’ll talk through what matters most to you, walk you through comfort techniques, help you put together a detailed birth plan to share with your provider, and offer tips like what to pack in your hospital bag. If you’re thinking about switching care providers, we can talk through that too.
Every visit is a chance to build trust, ask questions, and make sure you feel ready and supported. This is also a great topic to bring up during your consultation with your doula.
-
We usually join you once you’re in active labor—when contractions are about five minutes apart, lasting 60 to 90 seconds, and have been steady for an hour or two. That’s when labor usually starts picking up, and our hands-on support becomes most helpful.
That said, every birth is different. If there are special circumstances or you need us earlier, we’ll talk through that with you. This is a great topic to bring up during your consultation with your matched doula.
-
Your postpartum visit happens in the comfort of your own home and usually takes place within the first two weeks after birth. These visits typically last between 1 to 3 hours, depending on the doula you’re working with and what kind of support you need that day.
Every doula brings something special to this time—some may show up with a nourishing home-cooked meal, herbal remedies, or a belly binding session. Others might offer postpartum massage, craniosacral therapy for your baby, help with breastfeeding, or light household tasks like folding laundry or tidying up.
It’s a chance to check in, feel cared for, and receive the kind of hands-on help that really makes a difference in those early days. This is a great question to explore during your consultation with the doulas you're matched with.
